General situation of families precarious position of "Fokontany Fitroafana"

This report is the result of months of work and immersion in the DOMINO-based association Madagascar in Antananarivo in Madagascar in a neighborhood near the airport, the Fokontany Fitroafana.
The association DOMINO-Madagascar aims to ensure the protection of the child in his family, orphans and / or vulnerable, supporting vulnerable families. It currently hosts around two hundred children from a hundred homes, and all low-income families.
Through these images, the goal is to highlight the environment in which many families live "Fokontany Fitroafana" neighborhood.
Out of respect for the families and for the sake of anonymity, privacy will not be fully revealed here but it is important to stress found in these homes, many marital problems, alcohol problems, nutrition, of money, health, health and clothing worries.
The majority of families are large families living together in close quarters: grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren, all live and sleep in unsanitary places, the size of the room does not exceed 6m on average.
Despite the existence of a fire hydrant that feeds the neighborhood, most do not have access to drinking water for the pay network.
The parents of these children work in small informal businesses, men are masons, laborers, gardeners, or guards for a salary of 30000 Ar / month (10 €). Moms for their perform tasks as washerwomen, maids or nannies.
Thirty of these women are single mothers struggling to raise their children alone. Often the fathers of families leave home for other women leaving his wife and children without any financial support and thereby breaching their responsibilities. On average 3-4 children per household whose education never exceeds the primary school for lack of means, the latter being paid.
These children are thus left to themselves or by their elders kept waiting to go to work (often much too young). They are then sent to the rice, water carriers, makers of small jobs or keep other people's children.
For women who still live with their spouses, they are in the dark, do not know the exact salary of their husbands and are content with the little contribution that they offer their.

This work was possible thanks to the help of social workers Domino school that allowed me to follow them in their work and approaches and me and integrate into the privacy of homes Madagascar to photograph. A big thank you to them.

A couple living with their two children. Mum works in a textile factory, she earns about ‟120 000 AR‟ which is about 42 € per month. The father raises pigs and cattle. They own and cultivate their rice which allows them to feed the family for 3 months.
